History of facebook_organizations

The changes to the source code of this entry in the repository, newest first, each with the differences it made to the entry's files. They are also listed on GitLab.

[entries] Use American spelling in the descriptions by Tiago de Paula Peixoto 802d564
British spellings in the titles and descriptions of 69 entries (e.g.
labelled, organisation, millimetres, centres, anonymised, neighbours,
analysed, modelled, colour, licence) are replaced by the American ones.
Proper names keep their spelling (Otago Harbour, the Centre for Water
Systems, the Centre jeunesse de Montréal, the Dutch Ministry of Defence),
as do quoted upstream terms, citations, and property names.

 title = "Within-organization Facebook friendships (2012)"
description = r"""Six networks of Facebook friendships among employees of six anonymized high-tech companies, collected in 2012 by M. Fire and R. Puzis. Nodes are Facebook users who stated in their public profile that they worked for the target company, and an undirected edge connects two such users who are Facebook friends; only friendships between employees of the same company are included. The data were obtained with a focused crawler that starts from seed profiles of known employees and preferentially explores profiles with many friends already identified as employees, matching company-related keywords in each public profile. User identities were anonymized by replacing Facebook IDs with consecutive integers, which are stored in the vertex property `name`.

-The companies are grouped by size: small (`S1`, `S2`; 500 to 2,000 employees), medium (`M1`, `M2`; 4,000 to 20,000 employees) and large (`L1`, `L2`; more than 50,000 employees). Companies labelled 1 were crawled with the first version of the crawler, which stops when its queue is exhausted, and those labelled 2 with a second version with a stricter stopping condition. The companies described in the paper are a network hardware company (S1), a software company (S2), a telecommunication services company (M1), a software and outsourcing company (M2), and two large multinational technology corporations (L1, L2). Note that the sizes of the published `S1` (320 nodes, 2,369 edges) and `S2` (165 nodes, 726 edges) networks are swapped relative to those reported in the paper. The employee job positions analyzed in the paper are not included in the data."""

[entries] Fix parse bugs and improve the metadata of existing entries by Tiago de Paula Peixoto c996a0e
From a review of the dataset descriptions against the upstream sources
and papers, and from user reports:

- parse fixes (wrong edge direction or directedness, shifted or
misnamed properties, merged node identities, duplicated or missing
edges and nodes, wrong types), e.g. arxiv_citation (the HepTh dates
were a copy of the HepPh ones; now from the KDD Cup 2003 data),
  eu_procurements, foursquare_global, hiv_transmission, genetic_multiplex,
gnutella (adds the 05 snapshot), roadnet, macaque_neural, python_dependency
- descriptions rewritten from the upstream sources, documenting every
  property
- corrected titles, citations and DOIs, licences (ustream_license typo,
the data's own terms), tags and ICON ids
- url lists for entries with several sources or dataset pages
- SocioPatterns entries moved to the site's new data location, with the
daily networks of sp_infectious and sp_primary_school
- the Michael Fire entries marked as orphans (served from the mirror)
- redundant type forcings removed after the graph-tool coercion fixes
