History of twitter_higgs
The changes to the source code of this entry in the repository, newest first, each with the differences it made to the entry's files. They are also listed on GitLab.
[entries] Fix parse bugs and improve the metadata of existing entries c996a0e
From a review of the dataset descriptions against the upstream sources and papers, and from user reports: - parse fixes (wrong edge direction or directedness, shifted or misnamed properties, merged node identities, duplicated or missing edges and nodes, wrong types), e.g. arxiv_citation (the HepTh dates were a copy of the HepPh ones; now from the KDD Cup 2003 data), eu_procurements, foursquare_global, hiv_transmission, genetic_multiplex, gnutella (adds the 05 snapshot), roadnet, macaque_neural, python_dependency - descriptions rewritten from the upstream sources, documenting every property - corrected titles, citations and DOIs, licences (ustream_license typo, the data's own terms), tags and ICON ids - url lists for entries with several sources or dataset pages - SocioPatterns entries moved to the site's new data location, with the daily networks of sp_infectious and sp_primary_school - the Michael Fire entries marked as orphans (served from the mirror) - redundant type forcings removed after the graph-tool coercion fixes

title = "Twitter, Higgs boson (2012)"
-description = """Data on tweets related to the announcement of the discovery of a new fundamental particle with the features of the Higgs boson on 4th July 2012. Data covers 1-7 July 2012, and includes four types of networks: followers, retweets, replies, and mentions.[^icon]
-[^icon]: Description obtained from the [ICON](https://icon.colorado.edu) project."""
+description = r"""Networks of Twitter users involved in the spreading of the news of the discovery of a new particle with the features of the Higgs boson, announced at CERN on 4 July 2012, assembled by M. De Domenico, A. Lima, P. Mougel and M. Musolesi. The data comprise the messages posted on Twitter about the discovery between 1 and 7 July 2012, collected using the keywords "lhc", "cern", "boson" and "higgs", and the follower relationships among the users who posted them. Nodes are users, with anonymized identifiers. All networks are directed, and record the observed actions, i.e. who follows, retweets, replies to, or mentions whom.
+
+- `social`: follower network, where an edge $i \to j$ indicates that user $i$ follows user $j$.
+- `retweet`: an edge $i \to j$ indicates that user $i$ retweeted user $j$.
+- `reply`: an edge $i \to j$ indicates that user $i$ replied to user $j$.
+- `mention`: an edge $i \to j$ indicates that user $i$ mentioned user $j$.
+- `activity`: temporal network of all retweets, replies and mentions, with one edge per interaction.
+
+The networks have the following properties:
+
+- `name`: the anonymized user identifier, consistent across the networks.
+- `weight` (`retweet`, `reply`, `mention`): the number of interactions from user $i$ to user $j$.
+- `timestamp` (`activity`): the time of the interaction, as a UNIX timestamp in seconds.
+- `interaction` (`activity`): the type of interaction: `RT` (retweet), `MT` (mention) or `RE` (reply)."""
