polbooks — Political books network (2004)
- Description
Network of books about U.S. politics published around the time of the 2004 U.S. presidential election and sold by the online bookseller Amazon.com, compiled by V. Krebs (unpublished). Nodes are books, and an undirected edge connects two books that are frequently purchased by the same buyers, as indicated by Amazon's "customers who bought this book also bought these other books" feature. The books were labeled by M. E. J. Newman as liberal, neutral or conservative, based on a reading of the descriptions and reviews of the books posted on Amazon.
The network has the following properties:
label: the title of the book.value: the political alignment of the book, with "l" = liberal, "n" = neutral, "c" = conservative.
