lastfm_friendships — Last.fm friendships with gender (circa 2007)
- Description
A network of mutual friendships among users of Last.fm, a music website where users can share their listening habits and designate other users as their friends. Each node is a user account, and an undirected edge connects two users who mutually designated each other as friends. The network was assembled by Asikainen et al. to study homophily, and contains only users whose gender is known: it is self-reported in the user profile or, when not available, inferred from the user's real first name. The original data were downloaded from audioscrobbler.net (the Last.fm data service); ICON dates the snapshot to circa 2007.
The network has the following properties:
- Nodes:
gender, the gender of the user (0: male, 1: female).
