noordin_top — Noordin Top terrorist network (2006)

Description

Networks of ten types of relationships among the 79 individuals of the terrorist network of Noordin Mohammad Top in Indonesia, listed in Appendix C of the International Crisis Group report "Terrorism in Indonesia: Noordin's Networks" (2006), from which the data were mostly drawn. The data were coded by students of the Naval Postgraduate School course "Tracking and Disrupting Dark Networks" (Sean Everton and Nancy Roberts) and cleaned by the CORE Lab, and are analysed in detail in Everton's book "Disrupting Dark Networks" (2012). Nodes are individuals (vertex property name), and the networks are: classmates (attended school together), friendship, kinship, soulmates (close friends with a strong bond), logistics (co-location of logistical activity), meetings (co-attendance at meetings), operations (co-participation in operations), training_events (co-attendance at training events), communications, and business_finance (business and financial ties). In each network, an undirected edge connects two individuals who share the corresponding relation. Data distributed by the UCINET datasets collection (University of Manchester).1
