plant_pol_petanidou — Petanidou plant-pollinator web (1983-1987)
- Description
A bipartite network of flowering plants and their insect pollinators in a phryganic (East Mediterranean scrub) ecosystem at Daphní, near Athens, Greece, compiled by T. Petanidou for her PhD thesis. Flower visits were recorded over about four years of field observations (April 1983 to May 1987) in a 30 ha area of the Diomedes Botanical Garden. An edge connects a plant species to an insect species that was observed visiting its flowers; the data record only the presence of the interaction, not its frequency. Insects that could not be identified to species level are listed as morphospecies (e.g. "Andrena sp1 M_PL_015"). The data were obtained from the Web of Life database (network M_PL_015).
The network has the following properties:
- Nodes:
name, the taxon name (stripped of surrounding whitespace);is_pollinator, whether the node is a pollinator (otherwise a plant);orderandfamily, the taxonomic order and family;resolution, the taxonomic level to which the taxon was identified ("Species", "Genus", "Family" or "Order"; empty if not given in the source).
