social_location — Location-based social networks

Description

Friendship networks of two location-based online social networks, Gowalla and Brightkite, where users shared their locations by "checking in" at places. Nodes are users and an undirected edge indicates a friendship between two users. The networks were collected from the services' public APIs by Cho, Myers and Leskovec, and distributed by the Stanford Network Analysis Project (SNAP).

  • gowalla: 196,591 users and 950,327 friendships.
  • brightkite: 58,228 users and 214,078 friendships.

The check-ins of the users (about 6.4 million for Gowalla, from February 2009 to October 2010, and 4.5 million for Brightkite, from April 2008 to October 2010), which are also distributed by SNAP, are not included in the networks. The networks have no node or edge properties.
