trumpworld — TrumpWorld associations (2017)
- Description
Network of people and organizations connected to Donald J. Trump and his incoming administration, compiled by BuzzFeed News journalists for the "TrumpWorld" project, published on January 15, 2017, shortly before Trump's inauguration as the 45th President of the United States. The journalists spent two months building the dataset from public records, financial disclosures (such as Trump's 2016 Public Financial Disclosure Report and FEC filings), news reports and other sources on the Trump family, his Cabinet picks, and top advisers; it was later expanded with tips from readers. Each node is a person or an organization, and an edge is a documented connection between two of them (person-organization, person-person, or organization-organization), such as ownership, a position held in an organization, business dealings, investment, membership, family relation, or friendship. As stated by the authors, the underlying sources can contain errors and omissions. This is the final version of the data in the GitHub repository (update of April 24, 2017, which consolidated the earlier person-person, person-organization and organization-organization tables into a single file).
The network has the following properties:

name, the name of the person or organization;type, either "Person" or "Organization". - Edges:
connection, a free-text description of the connection (833 distinct values, e.g. "Ownership", "Director", "Investor", "President (as of 2016 FEC filing)", "Business associates"), describing the role of one entity with respect to the other, but not in a consistent direction (e.g. "Partner" in "Robert Lighthizer – Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP" refers to the first entity, while "Subsidiary" in "SCL Group – Cambridge Analytica" refers to the second); the order of the two entities in the source is kept as the source and target of each edge;sources, the URL(s) or description(s) of the source(s) documenting the connection, separated by " | " when there are several.
