ant_dominance — Leptothorax ant dominance (1981)
- Description
Ritual dominance displays among female ants of the species Leptothorax allardycei, in two laboratory colonies observed by B. J. Cole, who studied dominance hierarchies among workers in relation to egg-laying. The data were distributed by L. C. Freeman on his network data page at the University of California, Irvine (no longer online), from which this version was obtained via the Internet Archive.
colony1: 16 ants of a colony with a queen, observed over 18.2 hours.colony2: 13 ants of a queenless colony, observed over 14.8 hours.
A directed edge (i, j) indicates that ant i performed dominance displays towards ant j.
The networks have the following properties:
- Nodes:
name, the label of the ant. - Edges:
weight, the number of dominance displays observed.
