celegans_male — C. elegans male posterior connectome (2012)
- Description
Directed network of the posterior nervous system of the adult male nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, reconstructed by Jarrell et al. from serial-section electron micrographs. This part of the nervous system controls the male's mating behaviour. Nodes are the neurons of the posterior (tail) region, together with the muscles and other end organs they connect to (e.g. body wall muscles "dBWM"/"vBWM", diagonal muscles, spicule muscles, gonad, hypodermis, intestine); names in square brackets follow the notation of the source. An edge points from the presynaptic to the postsynaptic cell, and carries the strengths of both chemical and electrical (gap junction) connections, as given in the source; in the publication, connection strength is an anatomical measure derived from the extent of the synaptic contacts in the electron micrographs.
The network has the following properties:
- Nodes:
name, the cell name. - Edges:
chemical_weightandelectrical_weight, the strength of the chemical and of the electrical connection (0 if there is none of that type).
The data were obtained from the graph collection of the Open Connectome Project (now NeuroData), whose servers are offline, via the Internet Archive.
