ciel — Ciel drug importation network (1996-1997)
- Description
Directed network of communication among the 25 participants in a small drug-importation network bringing liquid hashish from Jamaica to Montreal, Canada, targeted by Project Ciel, an investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Montreal Police from May 1996 to June 1997. The investigation produced three seizures (two at Mirabel airport near Montreal and one at Sangster airport in Jamaica); of the 75 people in the surveillance net, the 25 who were active in the importation operations are included. Nodes are participants (labelled N1 to N25 in
name), and a directed edge indicates communication from one participant to another, from police wiretapping, with the edge propertyweightgiving the level of communication activity. Data reconstructed from the appendix of Morselli's book "Inside Criminal Networks" (2009) by the UCINET datasets collection (University of Manchester).1
