czech_corruption — Czech corruption scandal (2013-2014)
- Description
Network of co-appearances in the press of 16 actors in a political corruption and espionage scandal in the Czech Republic (the 2013 affair that led to the resignation of prime minister Petr Nečas). The data were collected by Tomáš Diviák from the Czech media database Newton Media Search, covering all major Czech newspapers from 4 June 2013 to 4 June 2014. The actors are the former prime minister and the head of his office (Jana Nagyová), deputies of the governing conservative party (ODS), high government officials and intelligence agents, and influential businessmen ("godfathers"); vertex property
name.An edge connects two actors mentioned in the same article. The edge property
weightis an integer on a scale of 0 to 10, where 10 is the strongest tie (Nagyová - Nečas): the number of co-appearances of each pair was divided by that of the strongest tie, and the resulting fraction was assigned the integer corresponding to the tenth into which it falls (so that ties with less than 10% of the maximum have weight 0, and are not included). Data distributed by the UCINET datasets collection (University of Manchester).1
