london_gang — London street gang (2005-2009)

Description

Network of co-offending among the 54 confirmed members of an inner-city street gang in London, United Kingdom, operating from a social housing estate between 2005 and 2009, reconstructed from anonymised police arrest and conviction data (Grund and Densley, 2012, 2015). Nodes are gang members, and edges connect members who were observed together, with the edge property weight giving the level of the relationship: 1 = hang out together, 2 = co-offend together, 3 = co-offend together, serious crime, 4 = co-offend together, serious crime, kin.

Vertex properties: age; birthplace (1 = West Africa, 2 = Caribbean, 3 = United Kingdom, 4 = East Africa); arrests and convictions (numbers); residence, prison and music (binary indicators, whose exact definitions are not documented by the source); and ranking (an integer rank within the gang, as given by the source). Data distributed by the UCINET datasets collection (University of Manchester).1
