pristionchus_pharynx — Pristionchus pacificus pharyngeal neurons (2013)

Description

Directed networks of synaptic connections in the pharyngeal nervous system of the predatory nematode Pristionchus pacificus, reconstructed by Bumbarger et al. from serial-section transmission electron micrographs of two adult hermaphrodites, and compared with the homologous (bacteria-feeding) C. elegans pharyngeal network. Nodes are pharyngeal neurons and the pharyngeal muscles they innervate; each edge is a synaptic contact from the presynaptic to a postsynaptic cell. Synapses with several postsynaptic partners (polyadic synapses) yield several edges with the same synapse identifier, and cells connected by several synapses are joined by parallel edges.

  • animal1: the first reconstructed animal (54 cells, 511 edges).
  • animal2: the second reconstructed animal (50 cells, 611 edges).

The networks have the following properties:

  • Nodes: name, the cell name (L/R suffixes indicate left and right cells).
  • Edges: synapse_id, the identifier of the synapse in the reconstruction.

The data were obtained from the graph collection of the Open Connectome Project (now NeuroData), whose servers are offline, via the Internet Archive.
