tennis_atp — ATP men's singles tennis matches (1968-2018)
- Description
Networks of the men's singles tennis matches of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), built by U. Michieli from the match records compiled by J. Sackmann (https://github.com/JeffSackmann/tennis_atp). Nodes are players.
wins: matches of the main ATP tour from 1968 to the end of August 2017. A directed edge $i\to j$ goes from a losing player $i$ to a winning player $j$, withweightequal to the number of times $j$ won against $i$ (the weights add up to 151,734 matches).points: the same matches and players aswins, with ATP ranking points as weights. A directed edge is present in both directions between any two players that met, and, according to the source documentation, the weights are "the respective ATP points awarded" to the two players (the loser of a match also receives points); the weight of $i\to j$ is thus presumably the total of points earned by $j$ in their matches against $i$.extended: an undirected and unweighted network, where an edge connects two players who played at least one match against each other between 1968 and the end of March 2018, including also the Davis Cup, and the Challenger and Futures tournaments from 1991 onwards (which are not included in the other two networks).
An undirected and unweighted version of
wins(where an edge connects two players who met) is also distributed upstream; it is not included here, as it is equivalent towinswith the edge directions and weights ignored. The networks have the following properties:
name: the player's name, as "Surname I." (wins, points) or "Firstname Surname" (extended).weight: the number of wins (wins) or the ATP points (points).
