nfl_2009 — NFL games (2009)
- Description
The games played among the 32 teams of the American National Football League (NFL) in the 2009 season, including regular season and post-season games. The data were derived by C. Aicher, A. Z. Jacobs and A. Clauset from data licensed from STATS LLC, and used as an example of a weighted network with latent block structure.
Each game is a directed edge between the two teams that played it, so that pairs of teams that played several times are connected by multiple edges. The edge direction follows the order of the two teams in the source data, which is not documented, and is neither home team first nor winner first (it should be treated as arbitrary).
The network has the following properties:
- Nodes:
name, the team abbreviation;conference, the conference of the team (1: NFC, 2: AFC);division, the division of the team (1: NFC North, 2: NFC East, 3: NFC South, 4: NFC West, 5: AFC North, 6: AFC East, 7: AFC South, 8: AFC West). - Edges:
source_scoreandtarget_score, the points scored in the game by the source and target teams, respectively. Points scored during overtime are not included.
